Conflict Minerals (Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer Protection Act)
The "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer Protection Act" (often referred to as "Dodd-Frank Act") is a US American law which regulates the US financial system more strictly since 2010. It aims to protect consumers and to increase transparency. The Dodd-Frank Act is an extensive law with 16 chapter ("Titles") which in turn are comprised of numerous paragraphs ("Sections"). Section 1502 requires certain companies to disclose information on the use of conflict minerals. Conflict minerals are mineral resources mined in the conflict area Democratic Republic of the Congo or its neighboring states used to finance armed conflict. This contributes to severe violations of human rights and furthers the humanitarian crises in the entire region.
